Onsite contractor with the City of Portland Bureau of Technology Services, responsible for creating new Cherwell applications and maintaining/extending existing applications. Developed innovative solutions for Knowledge-Centric Solutions, automation of templated e-mail responses and use of JSON to solve business problems in Cherwell Service Management. Created an ‘Amazon-ish’ system in Cherwell to allow city employees to order computers, cell phones and related software via the self-help portal, and allowed admins to create standard bundles for specific employee roles.

Created several business applications within the Cherwell Service Management platform. Established and documented development standards for integrations between Cherwell and other vendor products, leveraging SOAP and REST APIs. Created integrations with JIRA, VRealize, Azure, and Bomgar leveraging REST APIs.
2011-2013
Developed user interfaces for reporting systems and intelligence analytics tools using jQuery, Backbone.js and Twitter Bootstrap, as well as Jasper Reports for PDF and Excel exports, and PostgreSQL 9 stored procedures. Developed system for ingesting PDF forms in English and Dari for Afghan government project using ColdFusion 9, MS SQL Server and Adobe LiveCycle Designer that enabled more than a thousand former insurgents to turn in weapons and receive a government ID card. Created comprehensive system for cross-domain exchange of reports between classified and unclassified reporting systems using ColdFusion 9 and SQL Server, providing improved situational awareness for cultural and contracting issues in Afghanistan area of operations. Admin UI allows adding/updating parameters on the fly without a code change.
2007-2010
Onsite contractor for Verizon Business.
Developed enterprise personnel systems for Verizon, using ColdFusion 8, Oracle 11g and PDF forms. Replaced a cumbersome manual system by creating the Sales Commission Library, Verizon’s first online system for publishing and electronic signing of sales commission documents (in six languages) in a searchable library with a friendly user interface and extensive admin UI. Used ColdFusion 8 and Oracle 11G for the back-end functionality.
Produced the Offer Letter tool that significantly streamlined production of job offers by automatically merging personnel transaction data with custom letter formats, with an intuitive Web interface that gives HR staff complete control over development of templates and uploading of customized PDF enclosure.
1993-1994
Public Affairs officer
As final assignment prior to retiring from the Air Force, managed staff that published monthly command magazine and internal publications to articulate command priorities and accomplishments of Space Command personnel. Created video documentary on Air Force Space Warfare Center programs to help obtain funding for critical programs. Developed inspection checklists and scenarios for evaluating subordinate Space wing Public Affairs offices. Created infographics on command programs that were published in Aviation Week and Space Technology and Space News Also served as speech writer for the AFSPC commander, and as the NORAD spokesman for media events.
